Services and Benefits
In response to the rising unemployment rate, the new Work Local First Membership Program was designed to spark a hiring movement in the Hudson Valley with minimal financial burden to those who have lost their jobs. Participation in this program was designed to provide exposure and educational opportunities. Members of the WLF can attend the networking events below.
Other benefits include a listing on the Work Local First web page comprised of their name, a link to their email address, Web site or social networking site if applicable, as well as a brief description of career history along with future professional interests.
Because the Chamber recognizes that access to the Internet and email is important to people when they are unemployed, WLF members can register to use the Chamber's new career center located at the Chamber offices Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Lastly, those participating in this endeavor will receive a subscription to the monthly newsletter and 100 business cards to network with - provided by Harmon & Castella Printing. Special networking events will be held specifically to provide opportunities for those seeking jobs to meet with potential employers.
Networking Events
Contact Breakfast - monthly
Held the third Wednesday of every month at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel at 7:30 a.m. with average of 250 guests.
Business After Hours - monthly
Event held at member restaurant; Average attendance: 125 guests.
Business Forum - eight months
Held at the Chamber Conference Room. Includes continental breakfast for guests.
Network with a Purpose Workshop - quarterly
Members of the Ambassador Committee act as facilitators and coaches, providing networking tips especially for new members. Two hour program includes complete buffet breakfast for approximately 40 guests.
New Member Luncheon - quarterly
Includes lunch for approximately 35 guests and offers networking opportunities for new members.
Legislative Action Luncheon - quarterly
Attendance approximately 40 guests.
Maximize Your Membership - semi-annual
Seminar provided to new members reviewing their marketing and advertising opportunities through the Chamber; continental breakfast for approximately 35 guests.
Chamber Connections (a speed networking event) - semi-annual
Speed dating format where guests are able to meet one another and exchange business cards; continental breakfast.
Educational Events

Complimentary Fall seminar for up to 60 business entrepreneurs; attendees awarded Certificates of Completion.
